Infrastructure is one of the strongest indicators of long-term regional growth, and the latest investment in Costa Rica’s Southern Zone is another clear example of that trend.
Beginning on June 29th, construction officially starts on the new bridge over the Coronado River in Osa, a project that will modernize one of the area’s key transportation corridors.
To ensure traffic continues flowing during construction, a temporary modular bridge will be installed, allowing vehicles to safely cross while the existing structure is demolished and replaced.
A $4.6 Million Investment in Regional Connectivity
The project represents an investment of $4.6 million, financed by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) through the PROERI road infrastructure program.
Once completed, the new bridge will span 53 meters and feature:
- Two traffic lanes (one in each direction)
- Sidewalks on both sides for pedestrian safety
- Modern engineering standards designed for long-term resilience
- Improved traffic flow and accessibility
While the bridge itself is an important transportation improvement, its broader impact extends far beyond mobility.
Why Infrastructure Matters for Real Estate
Transportation infrastructure plays a critical role in the evolution of emerging markets.
Reliable roads and bridges improve access to residential communities, commercial services, tourism destinations, and essential public resources. As connectivity improves, regions become increasingly attractive for both residents and investors.
For buyers considering Costa Rica’s Southern Zone, projects like this demonstrate continued public investment that supports sustainable growth over the long term.
Osa Continues Building for the Future
Osa has become one of Costa Rica’s most closely watched regions, recognized for its extraordinary natural beauty, expanding communities, and increasing investment in public infrastructure.
Each new improvement contributes to creating a stronger foundation for future development while maintaining the area’s unique balance between nature and quality of life.
The new Coronado River bridge represents another milestone in that ongoing transformation—making travel safer, improving daily connectivity, and reinforcing confidence in the region’s future.
At The Real Pacific, we closely follow projects like these because they provide valuable insight into the long-term trajectory of the Southern Zone. Infrastructure investments are not only improvements for today’s residents—they are also indicators of tomorrow’s opportunities.
